TMU unveils remote surgery robot


At the 19th Telecom International Exhibition, a remote surgical robot, developed by TMU's researchers in association with the Mobile Communications Company of Iran was unveiled.

This robot developed by Dr. Nader Makari, Assistant Professor of Telecommunication Department and Dr. Mehdi Oruji, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering Department, was displayed at the 19th International Telecommunication and Information Technology Exhibition.

In this large-scale project of Remote Surgery, carried out in collaboration with the Mobile Communications Company of Iran, in addition to designing and manufacturing a domestic robot, the ability and possibility of craniotomy surgery for acute brain bleeding was provided. Tarbiat Modares University with a 24-square-meter pavilion at this exhibition welcomed researchers and presented films, photos and explanations about the stages of the construction of this robot and its specifications.

The 19th International Telecom Exhibition was held from 3rd to 6th of October, with the presence of more than 230 domestic and foreign companies at the permanent exhibition venue of Tehran International Exhibitions.
